Ida Sim, M.D., Ph.D.
  • Current Positions: Professor of Medicine (UCSF) and of Computational Precision Health (UCSF and UC Berkeley), Co-Director of the UCSF UC Berkeley Joint Program in Computational Precision Health, and UCSF’s inaugural Chief Research Informatics Officer (2023).
  • Pioneering Contributions: Co-founder of Open mHealth and Vivli; co-developed CommonHealth for EHR data access on Android; co-lead of the JupyterHealth project integrating various health tech initiatives.
  • Global Leadership: Recognized for advancing health data sharing technology and policy internationally.
  • Notable Awards: Received the Luminary Award (2025), Health Science Leader by STAT News (2024), and the United States Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (2000).
  • Elected Memberships: Member of the National Academy of Medicine (2022), American Society for Clinical Investigation (2010), and Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics (2007).
  • Educational Background: M.D. from Stanford University (1990), Ph.D. in Medical Informatics (1997), and Health Services Research Fellowship at Stanford (1997).
